Hungary lies within a temperate zone, and Oceanic, Continental, and Mediterranean climatic zones affect the weather in Budapest. Most visitors arrive during the Summer months, but it can get extremely hot during this time with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius common. In fact, most locals leave the heat and the fumes to the tourists during August and head out of town. Spring and Autumn then are excellent times to visit with fairly reliable weather and less crowds. Winter is cold, and although there isn’t an enormous quantity of rain or snow, it doesn’t show the city off at its best.
